About Us

Builders of communal peace and sustainable development

A Jordanian civil-society organization founded in 2014, working directly with communities most affected by conflict, marginalization and rights violations.

Our Story

From a group of ambitious young Jordanians to a field-tested center

Land of Peace Center for Development and Human Rights was established in 2014 by a group of ambitious youth and individuals with prior experience in the development field. The founders set out to anticipate their society's needs, address pockets of poverty, and raise awareness around gender-based violence.

As the Center's work expanded, it adopted a participatory methodology to build its strategic plans — most recently the 2024–2027 Strategic Plan, developed through structured workshops that reviewed the Center's role, vision, values, strategic fields, results and indicators, alongside a modified SWOT analysis of its administrative, financial, governance and human-resource capacities.

Our Role

Amplifying what is common

"To amplify what is common and work positively despite differences, through building communal peace; spreading an alternative discourse to that of hatred, extremism and violence; building and empowering the capacities of the groups most vulnerable to abuse; enhancing governance and sustainable development, especially in local administration; strengthening the monitoring of human rights; and building the capacities of the Land of Peace Center family and team."

Our Vision

A society built on a culture of peace

"We at Land of Peace Center are builders of communal peace and sustainable development for a society based on a culture of peace." We work toward a Jordan — and a wider region — where difference strengthens rather than divides communities.

Our Values

The principles that guide every program

01

Accepting Diversity & Difference

Every person is unique. Difference must not lead to conflict — it should enrich a society built on what its members hold in common.

02

Dialogue & Cooperation

Communal dispute transformation begins with dialogue. Our motto is a win-win situation — there are no losing parties at Land of Peace Center.

03

Amicable Settlement of Disputes

Peace cannot be built through violence. We advance participatory, peaceful means of dispute resolution in cooperation with community actors.

04

Equality of Rights & Opportunities

Women make up approximately 47.1% of Jordan's population — more than 5 million women — yet a real gap in rights and opportunity remains. Equality is both a human right and a condition for communal peace.

05

Flexibility & Focus on Results

In a fast-changing environment, we manage our programs through an Agile Project Management approach that stays flexible while holding firm to planned results.

Our Approach

How we work

Direct Intervention

We work directly with target groups rather than at a distance, ensuring programs meet real, observed needs.

Rapid Response

Our structure allows us to respond quickly and accurately as community needs emerge and evolve.

Community Participation

Evidence and community participation together ensure the continuity and sustainability of our results.

Jordanian Context

Every program is built on evidence and experience rooted in our close connection to the local Jordanian reality.

Strategic Plan 2024–2027

Five strategic fields, set through a participatory process

Our current Strategic Plan was developed collaboratively by the Land of Peace team and is treated as a living document — reviewed annually each December, authorized by the Board of Directors, and tracked through follow-up and evaluation meetings every three months.
