Community Peace & Conflict Transformation
Placing the foundations for community peace and serious dispute transformation in the Jordanian communities most affected by violence and displacement.
Why This Matters
Rising violence demands a strategic, sustainable response
Considering the rising levels of violence and its social effects across Jordanian society — especially in regions hosting the largest number of refugees in Jordan — a strategic and sustainable response has become necessary to limit violence and build the foundations of community peace.
This work must run alongside legislation protecting groups most vulnerable to abuse, and alongside the Jordanian National Action Plan advancing UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security — particularly its call to provide humanitarian services (psychological, social, legal and medical) that are safely accessible to women and girls in refugee camps and hosting communities.

Our Approach
Combatting extremism, protecting community peace
Countering extremist discourse
Spreading moderate thought, opening dialogue channels with individuals drawn toward extremism, and helping rehabilitate and change harmful behaviors.
Monitoring & public opinion
Continuously monitoring social media outlets to track extremist messaging and build public opinion that opposes it.
Engaging women & youth
Working with local partners and donors to engage women, local leaders and active youth in rejecting extremist and violent discourse, in line with UNSCR 1325.
Protecting vulnerable groups
Safeguarding persons with special needs — including deaf and mute individuals — who are disproportionately targeted by extremist groups.

More gender-responsive interventions
A larger number of programs and projects addressing the violence, hatred and extremism index, with routine project evaluation.
Key Activities
Early-warning monitoring, alternative-discourse content on social media, community dialogue, and interactive theatre in mixed local/refugee schools.
Capacity Building
Building the capacities of local actors in dispute transformation and community peacebuilding, in partnership with the Communal Peace Center and other local actors.
